Fire Department Questions
A fire engine responds because it is usually the closest medically trained unit. Another benefit of the fire engine responding is the variety of equipment carried on the apparatus. If responding to a residence and the occupant cannot come to the door to let the medical personnel in, the fire engine has multiple tools that can aid with gaining entry.
