When is my deposit refunded?

Category: Finance Questions
Deposits are refunded/returned in two ways: Active Accounts - The City will return utility deposits as a credit against current charges for those customers whose utility accounts have remained in good standing for a three-year period. Good standing means no incidences of delinquency or dishonored checks over a three-year period. These returns are usually done in August of each year. Closed Accounts – Deposits are refunded 2 to 3 weeks from when the final reading is taken. You will receive a final bill which will have the deposit applied to your balance. If your deposit exceeds the total amount due on the final bill, a refund check will be issued. If your deposit does not cover the total amount due on the final bill, a payment will be required.
